ATEX explosion proof fans for industrial applications
We need explosion proof ATEX fans if there are flammable, explosive gases or dusts. We also need an ATEX blower for flammable and explosive conveyed medium from the blower.
ATEX fans comply with the ATEX directive for hazardous atmospheres. Today many applications require ATEX blowers.
From time to time, operating companies are not aware of an explosion hazard and wrongly use standard blowers for ventilation. If you are not sure whether you need an explosion proof ATEX fan or need to know the ATEX zone in which your application is classified, please consult an official authority in your country.
ATEX blowers for explosive atmospheres
There are three series of Elektror industrial fans and blowers, which are suitable for hazardous atmospheres and are explosion proof. The ND-ATEX, RD-ATEX and HRD-FU-ATEX series are centrifugal fans with aluminum cast housing, which comply with the RL 94/9 directive in terms of their explosion proof design. Our standard axial fans are not available for hazardous atmospheres, but the axial fans can be upgraded to an ATEX design.
We can change other fans and blowers (also made of steel and stainless steel) in our to ATEX series to an ATEX explosion proof fan.

ATEX zones for Fans and Blowers
Elektror Atex proof Fans and Blowers are available for zones 1, 2 and 22.
If an explosive atmosphere of flammable substances is specified, the following zones may exist:
Zone 0 (gases/vapours): an area in which an explosive mixture is coninuously present or present for long periods.
Zone 1 (gases/vapours): an area in which an explosive mixture is likely to occur in normal operation.
Zone 2 (gases/vapours): an area in which an explosive mixture is not likely to occur in normal operation and if it occurs it will exist only for a short time.
Zone 20 (dusts): an area in which an explosive mixture is continuously present or present for long periods.
Zone 21 (dusts): an area in which an explosive mixture is likely to occur in normal operation.
Zone 22 (dusts): an area in which an explosive mixture is not likely to occur in normal operation and if it occurs it will exist only for a short time.
Temperature classes of ATEX Fans and Blowers
Flammable gases and vapours are classified into ignition temperatures. Always be aware of the ignition temperature if you use explosive mixtures. The temperature classes provide information about the maximum surface temperature of resources. The temperature class must be specified on enquiries and orders for explosion proof fans.
Elektror supplies ATEX fans with a temperature class T3 or higher (T2, T1). Fans and blowers for temperature class T4 may be possible in some cases by request. We label our fans and motors. The lower value of both applies for the whole ventilation system.

ATEX Fan - With us you are well advised
Explosion protection requires extreme care. The wrong interpretation or production of the ATEX Fan or minimal advice may have serious consequences.
As manufacturer of fans and blowers we are not allowed to categorise or classify your application into ATEX zones – only the owner of the application is responsible for this.
However, we can give you advice for the selection of your fan or blower according to the ATEX directive. Once you have identified the required zone, you can feel confident with our products.
